Brighton 4 Lansing Everett 1

Everett came into Brighton with a bye in the first round of the District playoffs.Brighton was coming off of a very somber emotional win against Lansing Eastern due to the sudden unexpected death of Phyllis Kammann.

The Bulldogs were very flat and lacked any intensity until midway through the second half.

At about the 8 minute mark Brighton keeper Kevin Tucker took a clearing shot that rifled off of another Brighton defender back 20 yards into the Brighton net. The score was 0-1 Lansing Everett on the own goal.

Still playing flat and uninspired the Bulldogs struggled to get things going. Slowly their game came back to them. At the 19 minnute of the first half Jon Palmer converted of a corner kick that was redirected from Jeff Lisiecki. Five and half minutes later Tim Buchholtz scored his first header of the season from another corner kick the came off of Brad Murphy's head to Tim, who redirected it to the back of the net.

The score at half was Bulldogs 2 and Lansing Everett 1.

Tim Buchholtz got on track early as he netted his second goal of the game at the 9 minute mark of the second half. Jeff Lisiecki assisted again. The Bulldogs substituted freely and picked up the intensity. They fired a total of 35 shots at the goal with 26 of them being played by the keeper.

Towards the end of regulation a PK was awarded to Brighton for a trip in the penalty area. Jeff Lisiecki capped off his night by completing the PK with 55 seconds remaining.

Shots allowed were 0 be the Bulldogs defense.

Next game is Friday October 24, 2003 at Sloan Field starting at 7pm for the District Final. This will be against the top two ranked teams remaining in the state playoffs. Should be a dandy. Come out an support your Bulldogs.
