Brighton 6 Lansing Eastern 0
This night brought together the 2003 Bulldogs for the first time without one of its' most loyal supporters. Phyllis Kammann, the mother of Aaron Kammann past away this afternoon, only a few hours before the start of the game. The decision was made to inform the team prior to warm ups so that they could fully understand the loss that Aaron had suffered and the job they would have to do without him. There was not a sound as Aaron's teammates, coaches, parents and fans stood motionless in remembrance of the voice of support that was silenced this night.
This was to be the toughest game the Bulldogs would play all season. No
matter the outcome the results would not change. Regardless, like every
other thing that has been thrown at this team all season they rose to the
call and perservered.
Kevin Simon opened the scoring at the 8 minute mark of the first half and was assisted by Captain Matt Frego. Just three minutes later brother Kenny Simon netted the second goal of the game off of a Penalty Kick for a hand ball in the penalty area.
In the 34 minute Adam Tillman sent a shot toward goal that carromed off of a defender into the back of the net giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.
The first half was a great struggle for a usually smooth and well balanced
attack as well as a stiffling defense.
The second half was much different as the Bulldogs started to pull themselves together and continuous peppered the keeper with shots. At the 17 minute mark of the 2nd half Captain Sean Campeau completed his open netter created by Brad Murphy assist finding him all alone in front of the goal. Two Minutes later Jeff Lisiecki took a crossing pass from Matt Frego and teed up a 28 yard strike the found the back of the net on a suprised goal keeper. Jon Palmer finished out the scoring with a nice assist from Art Higgins at the 5:41 mark remaining in the 2nd Half.
