Brighton 3 South Lyon 1

Senior night, as it is always the last home game of the regular season, was a spectacular evening that started off on a good note with the JV wrapping up an undefeated regular season with a 5-0 thumping of the JV Lions. The JV squad finished 16-0-2 while scoring over 80 goals and giving up only 5 for the season. Great job JV.

Because of the number of seniors the festivities started at the beginning of the game to make sure each one received the recognition this great team deserved.

South Lyon got fired up while waiting to start the game and also at the announcement that with a win tonight, a first in Brighton High School history would be accomplished. Both JV and Varisty undefeated in the same season. As if they did not have enough to get pumped about with playing one of the top ranked teams in the country.

It was a very good battle with Ben Adler scoring midway through the first half and again midway through the second half. South Lyon scored three quarters of the way through the second half and keep it close until Tim Buchholtz knocked in a rebound to make it a 3-1 final. One goal was unassisted and the other two were assisted by Brad Murphy.

Brighton finishes the regular season 15-0-3 and CHAMPIONS of the KVC at 13-0-1.

Brighton host Division 1 District 4 playoffs which start at 7pm on Monday 10/20/03. Brighton will face Lansing Eastern. The winner of that match will face Lansing Everett(bye) on Wednesday at 5:30pm at Sloan with the final being played on Friday @ 7pm at Sloan Field.

GREAT SEASON AND GOOD LUCK BRIGHTON.
