Brighton 1 Novi 1

The Wildcats complained that the Bulldogs were luck to beat them on a fluke goal during their last meeting at Brighton. The Dogs disagreed and decided that they would rectify this on the field tonight.

It wasa great night for soccer. A cool crisp air and moonlight night gave backdrop to two of the top three teams in the rankings for Division 1 Soccer. Both teams appeared to be ready.

Brighton came out firing with three shots on goal before the 10 minute mark was up. The fourth shot proved to be very dangerous for the Wildcats. Brad Murphy took a deflection off of the defenders head and placed a half-hearted acrobatic bicycle kick into the side netting of the far post with 15 minutes remaing in the half.

Brighton's possesion was about 75-25 for the half with Novi only able to muster a shot on goal. The second half shaped up to be very competitive. Novi increased their speed of play which required Brighton to counter with better midfield play to breakup their momentum and counter attack quickly. The play in the second half was fairly even with Brighton getting two open net shots that were deflected just wide.

Novi got a huge break on a poor call by the center referee with 1:34 remaining in the game. The referee declared a Penalty Kick when Kevin Tucker had the ball in his hands and the Novi player collided with him in the penalty area. The insuing kick resulted in the final score of 1-1. Brighton is 9-0-1 in the KVC(11-0-3) and 2nd place Novi is 8-1-1(11-1-2).

Next game is Tuesday against Howell at 7p.
