Brighton 2 South Lyon 0

The Jungle has always been a tough place for the Bulldogs to play and tonight would prove no different. The air was crisp and the stands had many more Bulldogs faithful than Lion backers.

This is a very good Lions team with a record coming into the contest of 8-1-1 having the only loss coming from 3rd rank Novi. These Lions were going hunting.

Being the top-ranked team in Division 1 is more of a curse than an accomplishment. EVERY team is gunning to knock you off of the top. South Lyon was no different.

Sean Campeau opened the scoring at the 3 minute mark that started with a great feed from Tim Buccholtz. Tim moved the ball wide to a streaking Sean how hammered into the bakc of the net.

This Bulldog team outshot the Lions in the first half 10-2 but could only muster a 1-0 score. I came close to being tied were it not for a diving save by Kevin Tucker on a great Lion header. While saving the ball Kevin smashed his head in the goal post. The impact move the entire goal. He way replaced by Aaron Kammann until the trainer determined he was capable to return. Kevin got that nod and returned about 15 minutes later and finished the game.

Brighton again came out firing in the second half but did not put one by the keeper. With about 30 minutes remaining in the game Brad Murphy sent a through ball to Ben Adler who raced through the heart of the defense in the middle for an attack. Two South Lyon defenders fould Ben in the penalty area and Brighton was awarded the penalty kick.

Brad Murphy scored on the PK to round out the night's scoring. A nice gift for his birthday today.

Posession was 80/20 with shots being 22-6 in favor of Brighton.

Next game is at Hartland at 7pm. See you there.
