Brighton 2 Pinckney 1
ThePirates of Pinckney have had their struggles this year but have been
in all the games they have played. This night would be no different for
them.
Dale Parsons came in with a reputation as one of the best goalies in the
conference and area. He certainly did not disappoint the Pirate faithful
with his performance tonight.
The top-ranked Bulldogs, coming off of a shutout of Lakeland and showing some offensive punch came out firing. Brad Murphy fired a 30 yarder that barely carromed off of Parsons fingertips into the net at th 9 minute mark of the first half.
Brighton was dominating possession most of the half but Pinckey kept pressing
and their counter attack was gaining momentum. After a clearing pass the
ball ended up on Pinckney's John Poston right foot who promptly fired a
30 yarder of his own into the back of the Bulldog net at the 29 minute
mark of the first half. This is only the second goal Brighton has given
up all year and the first in conference play.
Brighton returned to their shooting frenzy as Matt Frego netted the final goal of the contest at the 38:08 mark of the first half.
There were no additional goals in the second half but it was not for the
Bulldog effort. Dale Parsons stopped 18 of the 20 shots on net by the Bulldogs
with an additional 21 shots just missing their mark but untouched by the
keeper.
The Bulldogs travel to Ann Arbor on Saturday at 2:30P to take on the Pioneers
in their annual clash of the two state powerhouses. Promises to be very
good soccer.
Go BULLDOGS!!
