Brighton 4 Lakeland 0

The Eagle of Lakeland came in to the Dogpound looking to carry on their progress they recognized against the Bulldogs last year. However, there was a significant change for the Eagles... their Goalkeeper of last year now played for the Bulldogs. The Junior keeper for Lakeland, Zac Bennett, would fill in nicely. However, the top ranked Bulldogs had a few fill ins of their own on tap.

The Bulldogs took shot after shot on Zac and the Eagles net only to be turned away by slightly off target attempts. When on target Zac answered the call. Kevin Tucker would not be denied posting another shutout.

Because of this the first goal was not netted until the 15:30 mark remaining in the first half. Ben Adler took a pass from Jon Palmer then cut through the defense too gain the advantage and net the goal. No more than 45 seconds later Jon Palmer would net the second and final goal of the half on an assist from Tim Buchholtz.

Eric Rochelle scored with about 2 minutes to go but was waived off because of an offside call. He would get his revenge later.

The half ended with the Bulldogs holding a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs were once again able to play all players from their bench that were able to play. This is primarily because of the depth of the bench and their experience on and off of the field.

As mentioned earlier, Rochelle would get his revenge by opening the scoring in the second half at the 23:38 mark with an unassisted 25 yarder that carromed off of a defender to find the back of the net.

Five minutes later Kevin Simon broke free to net the fourth and final goal of the contest that was assisted by Ben Adler.

The Bulldog defense continues to get better and better each game. They recorded their 6th shutout in 7 games and haven given up only 1 goal so far this season. The Brighton record for a season is 15 goals including playoffs.

The Bulldogs face Pinckney at home on Thursday for another tough KVC matchup.

GO BULLDOGS!!!
